Long term consistency trumps short term intensity.

“Long term consistency trumps short term intensity”. One of my favorite quotes to live by.

Visualize this: All the ingredients to make a cake.

Now, visualize this: The cake is now one of your goals. What are the ingredients it took to make that “goal cake”?

I metaphorically compare life to cake. Life is full of elements, just like ingredients. Since every action has a reaction, why not control our actions? Why not come from a place of power in life–and why not Think Beyond Average? I mean, if you wand a moist, delicious carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, you wouldn’t use salt instead of sugar or use cucumbers instead of carrots would you? And I bet you wouldn’t bake it at a blazing hot temperature until it was baked to a crisp either.

The same goes for life, and in this case, goals. And maybe you don’t know all of the ingredients, but you know the main first 2. That’s ok! Don’t be discouraged. Any journey, fitness or otherwise all starts at the beginning. Start adding ingredients and strategically planning the next.

Realizing that it takes ingredients, one by one to create a result–can help you stay focused on the journey. You are not going to get a rock hard six pack over night. Just like you are not going to get a delicious cake effing up the ingredients or baking it at 50 degrees and expecting results.

Remain consistent. Creating balance in your life is what will keep you grounded and efficient. Becoming intense and hurried can never ensure the best results. Rushing into a fad diet, or exercising off that year of “Yolo-ing” is not a good or healthy way to approach a healthier you.
